Good to Know

What Delinquency Costs

Past-due years get more expensive the longer they wait. Here’s what Texas law adds.

  • Rendition penalty § 22.28

Aircraft used for business purposes must be rendered each year. When a rendition isn’t filed on time, a penalty of 10% of that year’s taxes on the property can be added.

  • Penalties & interest §§ 33.01, 33.07

Taxes not paid by January 31 are delinquent. Penalty and interest start February 1 and grow each month the balance stays unpaid. If the account goes to a collection attorney, an additional penalty of up to 20% can apply.

  • Lost allocation benefits If applicable

If your aircraft flies out of state, part of its value may qualify for allocation, which lowers the taxable value. When years go delinquent, the chance to file for allocation for those years may be lost.

How Novel Helps

A Clear Path Back to Current.

Falling behind happens: a missed notice, a sale, a move or a filing that slipped through. We sort out each year with you, step by step.

Review Your RecordsStep 1

Account history

We pull the appraisal and tax records for each past-due year and walk through them with you.

Missing or corrected filings

We prepare the renditions and allocation filings that were missed or need correcting.

Work With the Appraisal DistrictStep 2

Correcting certified values

Where the facts support it, we present your case to the appraisal district to correct values that were already certified.

Penalty waivers

Where you’re eligible, we request waivers of penalties, with the records to back the request.

Settle Up With the Tax OfficeStep 3

Coordinating with the tax office

We coordinate with the tax office so you know exactly what’s owed once any corrections are made.

Then, stay current: you move onto our annual Aviation Service Package, so renditions, allocations and value reviews are handled every year.
